Cincinnati-Hamilton County NSP2 Consortium Awarded $24M

The Cincinnati-Hamilton County NSP2 Consortium was awarded more than $24 million in Recovery Act funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Development's Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP). The funding will fix blighted and abandoned buildings in targeted areas, including Avondale, East Price Hill, Evanston, Northside, Golf Manor, Lincoln Heights, and Mt. Healthy. The Consortium is made up of the Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA), Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), the City of Cincinnati, Hamilton County and The Model Group.

The Model Group's Projects Are Part of City's Transformation

Working in conjunction with the Cincinnati Center City Development Corporation (3CDC), many of The Model Group's projects, including Trinity Flats, are playing a large part in the transformation of Cincinnati's urban core. Trinity Flats is a 25-unit residential infill and restoration project in Cincinnati's lively Gateway Quarter.

Holiday Adopt-A-Class

Employees of The Model Group continued their tradition of providing Christmas gifts to a class of students at a school in a neighborhood where The Model Group is working. 20 students in a 5th grade class at Rockdale Academy were this year's recipients of The Model Group's Adopt-A-Class program. The school is near two of The Model Group's current projects, Burnet Place and Forest Square Senior Apartments. Employees and students enjoyed a pizza lunch together and a visit from Santa Claus on Friday December 18, 2009.

The Cincinnati Color Building Awarded Tax Credits

The building that will be the future national headquarters for The Model Group has received $1.25 million in historic preservation tax credits from the state of Ohio. The Cincinnati Color Building is one of Over-the-Rhine's most visible and prominent buildings and is important to the on-going revitalization of the Gateway Quarter. Projects in Over-the-Rhine, including The Cincinnati Color Building, account for three of Ohio's twelve state-wide recipients for historic preservation tax credits.

December 8, 2009 ~~ Covington, Kentucky The Model Group's redevelopment and restoration of the historic 5th District School Building has contributed to the city's dramatic turn-around. The former school now contains 26 affordable senior housing units. Stimulus Funding Gets Forest Square Moving

A bridge loan and a grant made possible by a new wave of stimulus funding addressed the lack of demand for tax credits that were to finance Forest Square Apartments. The 21-unit senior apartment building benefited from the Tax Credit Assistance Program and the Tax Credit Exchange Program.

Trinity Flats Progressing
